Visual Artist
“By painting small field studies on location which are used in combination with memory to construct larger-scale paintings in the studio, Perry constantly hones and refreshes his own vision and capacity to notice. Close observation becomes a kind of spiritual practice, as attention to detail and precision are given physical form. Viewers of the paintings are given a model of observation, and perhaps reminded to stop to see the beauty which is in their own surroundings. Space and time are momentarily slowed and compressed, giving one a moment to breathe and to relax.”
